Privacy Policy

1 Quick Summary

• You can use the App without creating an account. We assign your device an anonymous Firebase ID so we can sync your soundboards to your watch.
• If you choose to sign in (email or Google) to publish soundboards, we store your display name, email and (optionally) avatar.
• Audio clips and images you upload to public soundboards are publicly visible to other users of the App.
• We show a banner advertisement on the browse screen via Google AdMob.
• We do not sell your personal data.
• You can request deletion of your account and uploaded content at any time.

2 Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

• Account information (only if you sign in): email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google) profile photo URL.
• User-generated content: soundboards you create, including board titles, key labels, uploaded audio clips, and uploaded images.
• Interactions: which boards you add to your watch, your votes (thumbs up / thumbs down), and your public profile (display name, optional bio, list of boards you have created or have on your watch).
• Support correspondence: if you email us, we keep the message and your email address to respond.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Anonymous user ID: Firebase Authentication issues an anonymous UID the first time you open the App, so your boards can be linked to your device.
• Device pairing data: when you connect a Wear OS watch, we store a watch instance identifier and pairing timestamp so the phone and watch can stay in sync.
• Diagnostic and crash data: Firebase may collect crash logs, performance metrics and basic device information (model, OS version, language).
• Advertising identifier: Google AdMob may access your device’s Advertising ID to serve and measure ads. See section 4.

2.3 What we do NOT collect

• We do not access your contacts, SMS messages, call logs, or browsing history.
• We do not collect precise GPS location.
• We do not record audio from your microphone. Audio files only enter the App when you deliberately upload them.
• We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. See section 9.

3 How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Run the core soundboard, pairing and sync features between your phone and watch.
• Show public soundboards, watcher lists, public profiles and vote totals in the App’s browse and detail screens.
• Authenticate you when you sign in and protect your account from abuse.
• Aggregate download and engagement counts for public soundboards (e.g. total downloads, weekly downloads). These counts are not tied to individual user identities in the public catalog.
• Diagnose crashes and improve stability and performance.
• Serve advertising and prevent ad fraud (via AdMob).
• Respond to your support requests, legal requests and abuse reports.

4 Third-Party Services

Meme Soundboard relies on the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that also applies to your use of the App.

5 Public vs. Private Data

Some information you create in the App is intentionally public:

• Soundboards you publish (titles, descriptions, key labels, audio, images).
• Your public profile (display name, optional bio, optional avatar).
• Lists of which users currently have a given public board on their watch (i.e. your display name may appear in another user’s “watchers” list when you add their board).
• Vote totals and aggregate download counts for public boards.

The following is kept private to your account:

• Your specific board ordering on the watch.
• Your watch theme preferences.
• Your email address (we never display it to other users).
• Your pairing session tokens.

6 User-Generated Content & Moderation

You are responsible for the audio and images you upload. By uploading content you confirm that you either own the rights to that content or have permission to share it, and that the content does not:

• Infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights;
• Contain hate speech, harassment, threats, sexual content involving minors, or other content that violates Google Play’s policies;
• Reveal personal information about other people without their consent;
• Contain malware or malicious code.

You can report abusive boards or users from inside the App. We review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this Policy. We also honor valid DMCA / copyright takedown requests — send them to simplelogin-newsletter.structure605@simplelogin.com.

7 Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only:

• With the third-party processors listed in section 4, strictly to operate the App.
• To comply with applicable law, court orders, or valid government requests.
• To investigate suspected fraud, abuse, or violations of this Policy or the Terms of Service.
• In connection with a corporate transaction (e.g. merger or sale), provided the recipient agrees to honor this Policy.

8 Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. Specifically:

• Anonymous accounts: data may be retained indefinitely while the device is associated with the anonymous UID, but is not personally identifiable.
• Signed-in accounts: account data is retained until you request deletion.
• Public boards: remain visible until you delete them.
• Diagnostic logs: typically retained for up to 90 days.

You can delete your account and associated data at any time, using either of the following methods:

• Inside the App: open the App, go to Settings → Delete account, and confirm. Your account, uploaded boards, audio, images and public profile are queued for deletion immediately.
• By email: send a deletion request from the email address linked to your account to simplelogin-newsletter.structure605@simplelogin.com with the subject line “Delete my Meme Soundboard account”. We will verify the request and process it manually.

Once we process your request, your account, uploaded boards, audio, images and profile are removed from our active systems within 30 days. Backup copies may persist for up to a further 60 days before being overwritten.

9 Children

Meme Soundboard is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area / UK, where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact simplelogin-newsletter.structure605@simplelogin.com and we will delete it.

10 Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
• Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”);
• Object to or restrict certain processing;
• Receive a portable copy of your data;
• Withdraw consent for processing based on consent;
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email simplelogin-newsletter.structure605@simplelogin.com from the address linked to your account. We respond within 30 days.

11 International Data Transfers

Firebase and Google services process and store data in data centers around the world, including in the United States. By using the App, you consent to your information being transferred to and processed in countries that may have data-protection laws different from those in your country.

12 Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted transport (TLS) for all network requests, Firebase security rules to scope database and storage access, and short-lived signed pairing sessions to bind watches to user accounts. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced inside the App. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
