Common questions

A book won't open.

Open Shelf reads DRM-free EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, FB2, CBZ, TXT, PDF and DjVu files. Books bought from most stores are DRM-protected and can't be opened.

How do I use the reading assistant?

Add your own Anthropic API key in Settings. Everything else works without one.

Android doesn't find my books.

Give Open Shelf "All files access" when it asks, then pull to refresh the library. PDFs under 40 pages are skipped.
